Kings Point Residents are actively participating in ICAA Active Aging Week and Hillsborough County Senior Games
Kings Point, Sun City Center, FL - Living life as an adventure helps renew vitality and well-being every day – and Active Aging Week is a perfect time to highlight it. Older adults will have opportunities to step outside their daily routines with activities offered during Active Aging Week, to be held Sunday, September 27, through Saturday, October 3, 2015.
Active Aging Week, organized by the International Council on Active Aging®, is a national observance that showcases the diverse opportunities available to older adults in a fun and educational atmosphere. The weeklong campaign calls attention to and wholeheartedly celebrates the positivity of aging today. The goal: Inspire people to try something new—and perhaps adopt a wellness focus in all areas of life.
The Active Aging Week theme of “Live Your Adventure” opens the door for older adults to explore new places and activities, make new friends, and find new ways to contribute to communities.
Kings Point is embracing the theme “Live Your Adventure” by hosting for residents:
Monday, September 28th 2 mile Fun Run / Walk
Tuesday, September 29th Yoga among the Oaks
Wednesday, September 30th Keeping in Balance Presentation; Pinot & Palette; Food Truck Fest & Concert
Thursday, October 1st Groovy Disco Zumba
Friday, October 2nd Fall Expo
“Our Kings Point 55+ community hosts hundreds of clubs and activities throughout the year. The Active Aging Week is an opportunity to celebrate the Kings Point active lifestyle and motivates others to join in. In addition to the planned special activities, we have many residents participating in a variety of events with the 2015 Tampa Bay Senior Games. We find the energy here so inspirational and are so proud of our residents! We continue to grow our recreation and fitness programs to support the healthy lifestyles of our residents.” Ginger Anzalone, Vice President, Vesta Property Services and Advisory Board Member ICAA.
“Positive life experiences are what Active Aging Week is all about,” says Colin Milner, CEO of the International Council on Active Aging. “The active-aging philosophy celebrates older adults as full participants in the cultural, civic and personal areas of life. Active Aging Week is a time to appreciate their accomplishments, recognize their capabilities and support their continued growth, while offering them opportunities to learn more about living well at any age.”
Active Aging Week 2015 is led by the International Council on Active Aging® in partnership with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, and the National Institute on Aging’s Go4Life® Campaign. This year’s sponsors include Aegis Therapies/EnerG® by Aegis, CaptionCall, Institute for Preventive Foot Health (IPFH), Nestlé Skin Health, SwimEx, and Sysco.
